Set in one of the historic brick buildings of Gasverket—originally designed by Ferdinand Boberg in 1893—the space reflects the raw industrial beauty of its surroundings while introducing a bold, contemporary edge. The material palette is anchored in brick, contrasted and elevated by elements like cork, pine, concrete, aluminum and ceramic. Every surface tells a story of craftsmanship, with a balance of rugged textures and refined details. The color scheme draws from both Boberg’s architectural legacy and the world of beer and wine—rust, bottle green, ale brown, deep red and vibrant neon accents infuse the space with warmth and depth. Originally designed by Gustaf Wickman in 1912, this Jugend-style landmark once housed cattle auctions in Stockholm’s Slakthusområdet before serving as a police station, bank and hotel. The design approach reveals its past through raw, authentic details—restored terrazzo floors, exposed wood paneling and grand bullseye windows—while introducing bold new elements like a laser-cut metal balustrade and patinated spiral staircase. Materiality and color draw from the district’s industrial heritage and nature, blending stainless steel, molded plywood, terrazzo and leather with tones of limestone grey, oxblood red and earthy browns. The furniture embraces “beefy Jugend”—substantial forms in wood, leather and bentwood—alongside lush greenery that reconnects the space to its pastoral roots.
